Streams Deletion is a Plus/Pro feature that lets you wipe your stored streaming history and reimport it through our updated catalog pipeline. It's designed to fix data issues like missing streams or streams attributed to the wrong track, artist, or album.
When to use it
This feature is the right tool when you're seeing widespread data issues across your library (lots of duplicate tracks, missing streams, or streams attributed to the wrong artists or albums).
If your data looks correct, you don't need to use this feature. It's optional and only intended for users seeing inconsistencies.
If you're only seeing a few small issues (a couple of duplicates, wrong artwork on one album, "Track 1" instead of a real title), use the in-app "Report an issue" flow on the affected track, artist, or album page instead — that's more efficient than wiping and reimporting your entire history.
Important things to know before deleting
- Deletion is permanent. There's no undo on our side. The only way to restore your data is to reimport from Spotify or Apple Music.
- Deletion usually completes within 15 minutes but can take longer. Wait until the Manage streaming history screen shows zero streams (or close to it — up to about 50 to 100 newly synced ones is fine) before reimporting.
- You can delete everything or a date range — not individual songs, artists, or albums.
- For Apple Music reimports, you'll need an active Apple Music subscription.
- Stream counts may shift after reimporting. This is expected — the system rebuilds your data through the updated catalog, which can change attribution if streams were previously matched to the wrong track or album. This isn't data loss, it's more accurate attribution.
How to use it
- Open the stats.fm app and go to Settings → Manage streaming history
- Choose to delete everything or pick a date range
- Confirm the deletion (you'll see multiple confirmation steps and a warning that the action can't be undone)
- Wait for deletion to fully complete — the Manage streaming history screen should show zero or close to zero streams
- Request a fresh export of your streaming history from Spotify or Apple Music (see our import guides)
- Import the file into stats.fm
If something doesn't go right
My streams are still missing or dropped a lot after deleting and reimporting
Try the delete and reimport one more time, in case something failed during processing. Make sure deletion fully completes (Manage streaming history shows zero or close to zero streams) before reimporting. If the drop is still significant after the second attempt, submit a ticket and include your import file so the team can investigate.
My counts shifted a bit after reimport
Smaller changes — a few songs going down, some duplicates being merged — are usually expected after a reimport. The system reprocesses everything through the updated catalog, which can change attribution. This is more accurate, not less. If you spot specific tracks or albums that look clearly wrong, report them through the in-app issue reporting on the artist, album, or track page.
My deletion is stuck or has been processing for hours
If your deletion hasn't completed after several hours, it won't resolve on its own. Submit a ticket with your stats.fm user ID and we'll manually update the status.
I accidentally deleted my data
Deleted streams can't be restored on our side. The only path back is to reimport. The deletion flow has multiple confirmation steps and a warning specifically because the action is permanent.
I want to delete just one song or artist, not everything
The Streams Deletion feature only supports full deletion or date-range deletion. There's no way to delete individual tracks, artists, or albums right now. If this is something you'd like to see, submit feedback through the app.
I got the "Fix your stats" banner but my data looks fine
No action needed. The banner is an offer, not a warning — the feature is optional and only intended for users seeing inconsistencies. If your data looks correct, you can ignore the banner.
